Cupid's Ally: MDMA as Relationship Super Glue with Charley Wininger

Can couples bond through bliss? Can MDMA and other such medicines help imbue a relationship with the strength that’s needed to get through the hard times? As the “chemical of connection,” MDMA can offer couples a visceral experience of their “we-ness,” and help them rekindle the kind of love that brought them together in the first place.

The inevitable complaints and resentments that can plague a couple are put into perspective when the container for the relationship is one of joy, play and profound connection. Charley Wininger, joined by his wife Shelley, will describe how the skillful use of MDMA for both healing and pleasure, especially over time, can have a cumulative effect that can help a couple build a sustainable bond.

About the Speaker:

Charley Wininger is a psychotherapist in private practice. Licensed as a Psychoanalyst as well as a Mental Health Counselor, he specializes in relationships and communication skills, and has been treating couples and individuals in his Manhattan and Brooklyn offices for over 30 years. A practicing psychonaut for the past half a century, his over seventy five MDMA experiences resulted in his memoir, “Listening to Ecstasy: The Transformative Power of MDMA.”

For the past 25 years, Charley has been a member of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (www.maps.org), which funds research into the use of MDMA (Ecstasy) for treating PTSD, social anxiety and other ailments. He and his wife Shelley have been instrumental in building the local MAPS community in New York. This has included annual and semi-annual group experiences using MDMA to bond and grow the community. Although he doesn’t use MDMA in his therapy practice, he continues to benefit from personal experience with this medicine as it informs and improves his performance as a psychotherapist, husband, and human being.
